Governor announces Benton County District Attorney vacancy
Governor praises DA Heiser’s public service
Salem, Oregon – Governor Ted Kulongoski today announced that he is accepting applications for the position of Benton County District Attorney to fill the vacancy created by DA Scott Heiser’s resignation. Scott Heiser resigned effective upon the Governor’s appointment of a successor, but no later than March 2, 2007.
The Governor praised Heiser for his years of service to the citizens of Benton County.
“I appreciate DA Heiser’s work helping to make our communities safer and more secure,” said the Governor. “I look forward to filling this position with someone who shares his commitment and spirit of service.”
The Governor will fill this vacancy by appointment, based on merit. Oregon law requires that at the time of appointment the appointee must be admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Oregon (ORS 8.630 and 8.640).
The Governor’s Office is now accepting applications. Applicants must submit an Interest Form for Judicial and District Attorney Appointments to the Governor’s Office. Interest Forms must be received by the Governor’s Office by no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2006.
