Governor announces Court of Appeals vacancy
Salem, Oregon – Governor Kulongoski announced that he is accepting applications for a vacancy on the Oregon Court of Appeals created by the resignation of Judge Virginia L. Linder, who has been elected to the Oregon Supreme Court. The Governor congratulates Justice-Elect Linder and thanks her for distinguished service on the Court of Appeals since 1997. Justice-elect Linder has submitted a letter of resignation from the Court of Appeals, effective January 2, 2007. The Governor will fill this vacancy by appointment.
Interested candidates for the vacancy must complete a Judicial Interest Form, which is available online at http://governor.oregon.gov/Gov/boards.shtml#judicial and mail it along with a writing sample to: David Reese, General Counsel, Office of the Governor, 900 Court Street NE, Salem, OR 97301-4047. Materials must be received by December 15, 2006.
Governor Kulongoski fills judicial vacancies based on merit, and he encourages applications from lawyers with a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. Applicants must satisfy the qualification requirements of ORS 2.540. The Oregon State Bar's Board of Governors' Committee on the Judiciary will conduct a due diligence review process of the applicants for this vacancy and provide information about each applicant to the Governor's Office. The Governor's Screening Committee will then interview the final candidates.
