Governor Kulongoski appoints Union County District Attorney
 
Timothy R. Thompson will fill the vacancy of Martin Birnbaum
 
Salem, Oregon–Governor Kulongoski today announced the appointment of Timothy R. Thompson as the Union County District Attorney.  Thompson fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Martin Birnbaum, effective September 15, 2006.
 
“Mr. Thompson will serve the people of Union County with integrity and dedication,” Governor Kulongoski said. “He has tremendous experience and an excellent reputation in the law enforcement community.”
 
Timothy Thompson is a Senior Assistant Attorney General with the Department of Justice where he is assigned to the Organized Crime Division and represents the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training in matters involving the certification of public safety officers.  He was the Josephine County District Attorney from 1987-1999, and he also worked in the Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office.
