Governor orders flags to be flown at half-staff tomorrow
Flags will be lowered in memory of Lance Corporal Derek W. Jones
Salem, Oregon–Today Governor Ted Kulongoski ordered all flags at public institutions be flown at half-staff on Friday, October 20, 2006, in memory of Lance Corporal Derek W. Jones.
Jones, 21, died on October 8 while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq. Jones grew up in Salem, Oregon and was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.
