Governor orders flags to be flown at half-staff

Flags will be lowered in memory of Staff Sergeant Robert J. Paul

Salem, Oregon – Today Governor Ted Kulongoski ordered all flags at public institutions be flown at half-staff on Tuesday, September 19, in memory of Army Reserve Staff Sergeant Robert J. Paul of The Dalles.

Paul, 43, died on September 8 supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Kabul, Afghanistan.

“Staff Sergeant Paul served his country with honor and courage,” said Governor Kulongoski.  “Our deepest sympathies go out to Paul’s friends and family.  As we honor his memory we must also keep all of our brave servicemen and women in our thoughts and prayers.”
