Governor Orders Flags to be Flown at Half-Staff in Memory of Oregon Soldier
Flags to be flown at half-staff on Wednesday, December 7 in honor of Lance Corporal John M. Holmason
(Salem, OR) – Today Governor Theodore R. Kulongoski asked that all flags at public institutions be flown at half-staff on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 in memory of Lance Corporal John Holmason, 20, of Scappoose, Oregon.
Lance Corporal Holmason was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force of Twenty-nine Palms, California. He was killed on December 1st from an improvised explosive device in Fallujah, Iraq.
“Lance Corporal Holmason was a valiant soldier who served to protect the freedom of his fellow citizens,” Governor Ted Kulongoski said. “On behalf of all of Oregon, my thoughts and prayers go out to the Holmason family and friends.”
