Governor and Attorney General to Announce Distribution of $14 Million in Energy Assistance for Low Income Oregonians and Launch New Online Energy Saving Resource
(Salem, OR) – Governor Ted Kulongoski and Attorney General Hardy Myers tomorrow will announce the distribution of $14.7 million in settlement funds stemming from market manipulation during the 2000-01 electricity market price spikes. The Governor will also announce a new Department of Energy website that provides information to help Oregonians conserve energy and lower their home heating and utility bills.
The news conference will be held at the Tualatin offices of Oregon HEAT, a non-profit company committed to raising and coordinating resources to help low-income Oregonians meet their household energy needs and move them toward energy self-reliance. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to walk through a home that is currently being weatherized (approx. 15-20 minutes away from Oregon HEAT).
