Governor's Statement on Death of Soldier
Flags to be flown at half-staff on December 16, 2004
(Salem, OR) Governor Theodore R. Kulongoski asked that all flags at public institutions be flown at half-staff on Thursday, December 16 in memory and honor of Specialist Edwin Roodhouse, 36 of San Jose, California.
Roodhouse died December 5, 2004 when his vehicle was struck by an explosive device in Habbaniyah, Iraq. Roodhouse was assigned to the Army´s 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Greaves, Korea.
“Edwin was dedicated to preserving the freedoms of our nation,” said Governor Kulongoski. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family. I also offer my respect and gratitude to all of those serving overseas and their families here at home.”
Specialist Roodhouse lived briefly in McMinnville. He will be laid to rest at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
