Flags to be flown at half-staff on December 7, 2004

(Salem, OR) Governor Theodore R. Kulongoski asked that all flags at public institutions be flown at half-staff on Tuesday, December 7 in memory and honor of Specialist Jeremy Christensen.

Specialist Christensen died November 27, 2004 when his vehicle was struck by an explosive device in Ad Dwlayah, Iraq.  Christensen was assigned to the A Troop, 1st Squadron, 4th Armored Cavalry Division based in Schweinfurt, Germany.

“Specialist Christensen’s bravery, commitment, and sacrifice will not be forgotten,” said Governor Kulongoski.  “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and the many other families who still have loved ones away at war.”

Specialist Christensen began his military service with the Oregon National Guard as a member of the 2nd Battalion, 218th Field Artillery headquartered in Portland, Oregon.  He had since moved to New Mexico, but will be laid at rest in Oregon.
