Veteran's Day Statement by Governor Ted Kulongoski
“Veteran’s Day is the day for us to pay tribute to the more than 375,000 Oregon Veterans who have served in every major conflict in our nation’s history and to the thousands of Oregonians who are currently wearing the uniform of our nation’s armed forces.
These brave men and women represent the best Oregon has to offer both in their strength of character and in their conviction to secure safety and peace at home and overseas. It is because of these fine soldiers that we can fly our state flag and our countries flag with great pride and honor.
On this Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2004 I ask Oregonians to please join me in recognizing and honoring those who have sacrificed their lives and fought to protect our freedoms and liberties. I also ask that Oregonians join in prayer that our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan return home safely and soon.”
The Governor will observe Veteran’s Day (November 11, 2004 ) in Prineville. He’ll ride in the Prineville Veteran’s Day parade beginning at 11 a.m. and join the Community Reception at the Veteran’s Club at 1 p.m. View the Governor´s remarks.
