Press Release

Statement by Governor Kulongoski

Ending methamphetamine use and production in Oregon is critical to ensuring the safety of our children and communities and the action today by the Board of Pharmacy demonstrated the kind of leadership needed to combat the methamphetamine problem plaguing our state.

I commend the Board for acting with the urgency that this issue deserves by adopting a temporary rule that is an important first-step in deterring meth users and producers in Oregon from continuing down this destructive path.

This issue is one we can and will solve by working together across community and industry lines, and I look forward to working with the Board of Pharmacy, law enforcement, retailers, lawmakers, labor representatives, and the citizens of Oregon on a permanent rule that can deliver the results we all want – safe and healthy children and communities free of methamphetamine.
