Governor Calls on US Attorney General Not to Appeal Death with Dignity Law
 
(Salem, Ore.) – Governor Ted Kulongoski today sent a letter to United States Attorney General John Ashcroft urging him not to appeal the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling upholding Oregon´s Death with Dignity Act.
 
On August 11, 2004, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals denied Ashcroft´s petition for a rehearing of their May 26 decision upholding Oregon´s Death with Dignity Act.  Ashcroft has not yet indicated whether he plans to appeal the case to the Supreme Court.
