I learned of Oregon’s hunger challenges shortly after I moved to Central Oregon 14 years ago. When I heard that we had one of the highest hunger rates in the nation, I just didn’t believe it at first. Those statistics were simply out of line with the image I had of our state.
Unfortunately, hunger in Oregon continues to hover above the national average, ranking us as one of the hungriest states in the nation. As First Lady, and as an Oregonian, I want to do everything I can to help reverse this trend and get help to those who are hurting right now.
