Governor's Oregon Principles Budget 2005-2007
 
Instead of basing his 2005-2007 state budget on what government has funded in the past, the Governor looked at everything the state does to create a budget based on a positive vision for Oregon´s future.  He has identified six core Oregon Principles that are the foundation for a prosperous Oregon.  The Governor directed each state agency to provide information to him that clearly identifies all of their programs.  For each program, he asked them to list:
  • whether each program is a mandated activity outside of this or the Legislature´s control;
  • how many Oregonians will be served by the program;
  • what the program will accomplish for Oregon citizens; and
  • how we will measure and be assured the program actually works.
