Statement by Governor Ted Kulongoski on July employment numbers

(Salem) - “Today’s employment report shows that for five months now Oregon continues to hold steady. While it is good news that the number of Oregonians out of work is not getting worse, the report serves as a reminder that the road to a full recovery is going to take time.

“Until we come out of these difficult times, we will continue to invest federal and state recovery dollars into projects that will put Oregonians to work. We will also make sure for those who rely on unemployment benefits that those benefits will remain intact as they continue to look for employment.

“Oregon, in partnership with the federal government, has made a commitment to making investments in projects that will keep Oregonians across the state working. As more and more of these projects begin to break ground, I believe we will see more people back to work and Oregon once again on the road to economic prosperity.”
