Statement by Governor Kulongoski on Appointment of Kathleen Sebelius to Health and Human Services

(Salem) – “Oregonians and Americans should be extremely pleased with the appointment by President Obama of Governor Kathleen Sebelius as the new Secretary of Health and Human Services.

“Governor Sebelius is a proven leader and expert in the health care arena and has worked tirelessly as the Governor of Kansas to improve and streamline their health care system, resulting in greater health care coverage and affordability for the citizens of her state. She has also made great strides in controlling health care costs in Kansas while at the same time expanding coverage for low-income and uninsured children.

“There is no doubt in my mind that Governor Sebelius will serve the United States well in her new role and will continue to fight for health care reforms that will keep health care costs under control and expand coverage for all Americans.”
