Governor Announces Vacancy of Justice of the Peace for Clackamas County
(Salem) – Governor Ted Kulongoski announced today that he is accepting applications for the vacant position of Justice of the Peace in Clackamas County. The Governor will fill this vacancy by appointment.
Clackamas County requires the Justice of the Peace to be a member of the Oregon State Bar. ORS 51.240 provides that at the time of appointment, the candidate must be a citizen of the United States and a resident of Oregon. ORS 51.240(2) further states that at the time of appointment, the candidate must “be a resident of or have a principle office in the justice of the peace district in which the justice court is located.” ORS 51.240(3) provides the required length of time for the residency requirements.
Governor Kulongoski fills judicial vacancies based on merit and he encourages applications from lawyers with a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. Applicants must submit an interest form for Judicial/District Attorney Appointments to the Governor’s Office.
