Governor Orders Flags at Half-Staff in Memory of Oregon Soldier
Flags to be lowered Saturday, September 27, 2008, in honor of Army Lieutenant Colonel James L. Wiley
 
(Salem) Today Governor Ted Kulongoski ordered all flags at public institutions to be flown at half-staff on Saturday, September 27, 2008, in memory of Army Lieutenant Colonel James L. Wiley of North Bend, OR .
 
Wiley, 46, died at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, on September 18. Lieutenant Colonel Wiley was assigned to the 27th Brigade Combat Team, New York Army National Guard, Syracuse, N.Y.  
 
“James was an outstanding soldier who served his state and nation with honor, distinction, and valor,” said Governor Kulongoski. “He will be missed by his friends and family but never forgotten for his sacrifice.”
