Govrnor Orders Flags at Half-Staff in Memory of Oregon Soldier
Flags to be lowered Friday, September 5, 2008, in honor of Private 1st Class Tan Quoc Ngo
(Salem)– Today Governor Ted Kulongoski ordered all flags at public institutions to be flown at half-staff on Friday, September 5, 2008 in memory of Army Private 1st Class Tan Quoc Ngo, of Beaverton, OR .
Ngo, 20, died in Kandahar, Afghanistan on August 27th from wounds suffered while serving in the Zabul Province, when his High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) patrol came under attack by small arms and rocket propelled grenade fire. Private 1st Class Ngo was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, Hohenfels, Germany.
“Tan was an outstanding young man and soldier who served his state and his country with courage and conviction,” said Governor Kulongoski. “He will be missed by his friends and family but never forgotten for his sacrifice.”
