Governor Moves Storm Recovery Efforts to Phase Two

Salem – Governor Kulongoski today announced the members of the Governors Recovery Cabinet, which will serve as the principal advisory board to the Governor through the recovery and restoration process for areas affected by the December storms.

The Recovery Cabinet replaces and expands the initial “Recovery Planning Cell,” of state agency leaders which convened on the afternoon of Monday, December 3rd, as the storm was hitting. The Recovery Cabinet is charged with implementing the Governor’s priorities for recovery.

The Recovery Cabinet will serve as the principal advisory board to the Governor throughout the rest of the recovery process. The Cabinet is comprised of state agency, regional, tribal, and local leaders as well as members from the private, public and non-profit sectors.

“While the storm is nearly three weeks behind us, the rebuilding and restoration for our communities will go on for weeks or even months,” said Governor Kulongoski. “It’s important that the state continue to strengthen interagency collaboration and continue to provide support, infrastructure and help every step of the way to put these communities back together.”

The Recovery Cabinet will meet two times a week and will make regular reports on the progress of the recovery.
