Governor Wishes a Happy Birthday to the National Guard
National Guard's service home and abroad recognized on 371st birthday

Salem – Governor Ted Kulongoski today wished the National Guard a happy birthday as part of the celebration of the Guard’s 371st birthday. The Governor participated in a lunch recognizing all of the work the Guard has done both home and abroad.

“I wish all of the men and women who are currently serving or have served in the National Guard a very happy birthday,” said Governor Kulongoski. “Whether serving overseas or taking care of people right here at home, your contribution to your state and your country has benefited all of us in immeasurable ways.”

Today’s luncheon ceremony highlighted the work the National Guard has done in disaster relief, specifically on the recent storms that have devastated parts of the Oregon coast. The ceremony also highlighted the service and sacrifice of soldiers, and the families of those soldiers, serving overseas.
