Governor Orders Flags at Half-Staff in Memory of Oregon Soldier
 
Flags to be lowered Saturday, September 1, 2007 in honor of Sergeant First Class (SFC) Adrian Marcos Elizalde
 
Salem — Today Governor Ted Kulongoski ordered all flags at public institutions be flown at half-staff throughout Oregon on Saturday, September 1, 2007 in honor of Army SFC Adrian Marcos Elizalde.
 
Elizalde, 30, of North Bend, died August 23 in Al Aziziyah, Iraq. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Lewis, Washington.
 
“SFC Elizalde was a devoted father, friend, son and soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice for his country,” said Governor Kulongoski. “He is a hero who will be missed by his community but never forgotten by the citizens of Oregon.”
