Governor Kulongoski Signs Four Pieces of Legislation
Bills prohibit ‘golden parachutes’ contracts, promote solar energy, honor Congressional Medal of Honor recipients and require self-extinguishing light bulbs in schools
Salem – Today Governor Ted Kulongoski signed four pieces of legislation designed to prohibit ‘golden parachutes’ contracts for school administrators, require public construction projects use funds for solar energy, designate special license plates for Congressional Medal of Honor recipients and require self-extinguishing light bulbs be used in schools.
The four pieces of legislation the Governor signed today include:
SB 384: This legislation bans schools districts and public charter schools from entering into ‘golden parachute’ contracts—or contracts that compensate an employee beoyond their employment.
HB 2620: This legislation requires that contracts for construction or renovation of public buildings designate at least 1.5 percent of the total contract price for solar energy technology and upgrades.
HB 2390: This bill allows the Department of Transportation to issue customized license plates to Congressional Medal of Honor recipients.
SB 479: This legislation requires schools to use self-extinguishing light bulbs in all facilities, with the exception of stadiums and outdoor athletic fields.
